Groundbreaking - Officials, and community members gathered at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new state-of-the-art Little Woods Elementary School in New Orleans East on Tuesday, Nov.29. at 10 a.m. The 99,016-square-foot, three-story building is designed to serve approximately 450 students. At a cost of $23.9 million, the concrete and steel-frame structure will include classrooms, administrative offices, guidance offices, a media center, cafeteria, kitchen, band and music facilities, art classrooms, a gymnasium with locker rooms, special education classrooms, computer labs, science labs and a black box theater. Serving Pre-kindergarten to 8th grade, the school is expected to be completed by early 2013.
